SAT represents the candidate’s academic ability and gives an idea to the admission officer whether the GPA and transcript are authentic or not. For instance, if you have 4.0 GPA with a 1000 SAT score then the officer may think that your grades are exorbitantly high or made up. But if you score more in SAT and have low GPA grades then, the college may be willing to overlook your academic ability.
The colleges are also judged by their minimum requirement of SAT scores as it represents the standard of the university and their academic capability preferences. The US News & World report publishes the list of universities based on their rank. They use many criteria to rank the universities including the SAT score of the students admitted. The SAT is important for both universities and students as it represents their academic profile.
